Amur initiative will be prolonged

Targeted Program "Amur Initiative" (file PDF 306 kb)
Amur Initiative delivers first results to citizens

The goal of this Program is to organize operative monitoring and to improve the quality of potable water in small settlements located on the banks of Amur River. The waters of  this river are being disastrously polluted by China. The following practical measures have been planned:

This Program, funded by USAID and Khabarovsk Krai government agencies, is carried out by FSD in partnership with Green House, a public charity organization in Khabarovsk Krai; Khabarovsk Krai Ministry of Economic Development; the Environmental Protection Department of Khabarovsk Krai Ministry of Natural Resources; Khabarovsk Krai Environmental Monitoring Center; Municipal Self-Governance Relations Department; and regional NGOs.
As a result of this Program, an operative Amur water quality monitoring system will be put in place;  effective collaboration will be established among local government, self-government, research facilities, and NGOs in such activities as water preparation and water supply in settlements along Amur River; and at least 4 such settlements (with a total of 4,000 residents) will be provided with access to  stable sources of good-quality and safe potable water - this will serve as a model for replicating similar projects in nearlying settlements at the cost of local sources of funding.

Water quality in the Ussuri resort water supply station is controlled at the daily basis.
New water desinfection system will be installed in the second water rise station in Osinavaya Rechka village near Khabarovsk.
In the vicinity of Sikachi-Alan Nanai minority village Amur river waters bear wastes of tens of millions of Cninese and hundreds of enterprises located in China.
