Project news Clean Environment . October 2005

In September 2005, nearly 300 students and teachers of School # 40 took part in a tourist gathering at May Glade located on the bank of Iset River. This event, organized by the project “Clean Environment”, included a relay race and a volunteer labor day.
Under this project, on October 10, 2005, nearly 60 students of School # 40 and their parents planted trees in the schoolyard: 29 pine trees, 2 cedars and 1 snowball tree will now grow along its perimeter. The pupils of Class 3B are take care of these trees: they watered them in the autumn and guarded them from vandals before Christmas.
Sixty parents of children attending Kindergartens # 45 and # 92 planted 10 pine trees in each of these children’s institutions during a Volunteer Labor Saturday.
This project has installed air disinfection devices UOB-3m (manufactured by NPO ENT in St.Petersburg) in 5 elementary school classrooms of School # 40 and in two rooms in Kindergartens # 45 and #92. These devices operate in the presence of children, and this is quite convenient, since there is no need to interrupt classes or to lead the children out of the rooms for certain periods of time. The devices work on the basis of ultraviolet emission and are effective against all types of pathogenic microorganisms: bacteria, including spores, viruses, fungi, etc.

This project has installed devices   UOB-3m-60 (manufactured buy NPO ENT in St.Petersburg) with ozone forming ultraviolet lamps in two gyms of School # 40 and in school halls in Kindergartens # 45 and # 92. These devices operate without the presence of people and disinfect not only the air, but surfaces, articles, and equipment, including hard-to-reach places. These devices generate ozone, whose disinfecting properties are 300 higher than those of chlorine, and which destroy pathogenic micro flora both in the air and on surfaces.
Besides, in School # 40 this project has also installed 3 drinking water fountains supplied with  water-disinfecting devices UOB manufactured by NPO ENT in St.Petersburg. The disinfecting effect of this device is based on ultraviolet emission; and in Kindergartens # 45 and # 92 this project installed Rosa-Super sorption filters (manufactured in Yekaterinburg) at the inlets of kitchen water supply systems.
As part of project activities, “green areas” were arranged and phytoncide house plants were placed in 4 elementary school classrooms of School # 40 and in two rooms in Kindergartens # 45 and #92.
