Luchegorsk (Primorye) hosted the seminar devoted to the results of CDSP program at RFE

On June 26 in Luchegorsk (Pozharskiy raion of Primorskiy Krai) took place the seminar devoted to the results of USAID funded Community Development Support Program (CDSP) projects complexes implemented at RFE. CDSP is administered by the Fund for Sustainable Development (FSD). CDSP Grantee “Pervotsvet” NGO with FSD RFE Regional Center were the key organizers of the seminar. More than 50 projects participants from seven municipalities of Khabarovskiy and Primorskiy Krais, representatives of FSD and USAID took part in the work of the seminar. The Head of Pozharskiy raion Mr. Koval’ in his welcome speech underlined the extreme importance of implementing CDSP projects at the Russian Far East and their high value as the model ground for cooperation and partnership between administrations, citizens and businesses. Projects participants in their presentations noted that every dollar of technical assistance from USAID helped leveraging $2 from the local sources and saving one more dollar that would be further reinvested to social development programs. In total over 80 000 citizens experienced improvements from  CDSP projects implementation. 2000 out of them wer4e volunteering in the projects implementation. Over 30 permanent and 100 temporary jobs were created.

Seminar guests got acquainted with concrete achievements of CDSP projects in Pozharskiy raion. They visited kindergarten in Novostroika settlement where windows and heat distribution system were replaced to the more efficient ones. This resulted in opening two new blocks for 40 children and six new jobs created. Next stop was in Pozharskoe settlement where local house of culture stage was renovated. This resulted in increasing activity of local folk music groups. In Luchegorsk settlement new energy efficient lamps were installed on the streets, street markings were painted and a sophisticated video surveillance was installed. This significantly improved safety on the streets especially for children. The seminar ended with awarding most active citizens who helped in the projects implementation.
