The Fund for Sustainable Development Participates in Events Organized by Its Partner - the National Health League

On January 29-30, 2009, the Fund for Sustainable Development participated in the First National Congress “Healthy Lifestyle as a Condition of Russia’s Sustainable Development and Source of Competitive Business” and in the Second National Exhibition of Russia’s NGOs “Civil Society: Healthy Lifestyle, Public Health and Environmental Protection”  held at the Russian Academy of Civil Service under the Russian Federation President (Moscow).

In the framework of the exhibition, FSD presented its new project - Male Health Protection (the medical, social, organizational, cultural and educational aspects of protecting male health as a factor of national security) – that became the winner of the 2008 open contest of the National Health League Fund for grants to non-profit non-governmental organizations for socially significant projects advertising healthy life styles and environmental health protection. This project is being fulfilled in collaboration with the Bashkiria State Medical University (Ufa) and is devoted to male health risk management through a large-scale public education effort carried out in six partner cities: Moscow, Ufa, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Ulan-Ude.
FSD at its stand that displayed 65 exhibits practically from all the country’s regions also demonstrated the resutls of its other socially significant programs advertising healthy lifestyles and public health and environmental protection, which are currently  being implemented in Belaya Kalitva and Samara (under the We Are In Charge of the Future Program of Alcoa Foundation) and Nevinnomyssk (under the Environment and Public Health in Nevinnomyssk and Other Regions of EuroChem Company Presence Program).

Nearly 60 interested public organizations were presented with the first volume of the “Environmental Encyclopedia” (edited by B.I.Danilov-Danilyan) printed in 2008 with support from the Fund for Sustainable Development and Alcoa and EuroChem companies.

At a workshop  on the issue Regional Experience of Integrated Approaches to Creating Healthy Lifestyle Areas (on the example of Saratov Oblast), FSD programs manager Elena Bondarchuk made a presentation about the collaboration of business, government and public organizations in Nevinnomyssk aimed at supporting citizen initiatives to improve the social situation in the city.
In the report “Managing Environment and Health: Socially Responsible Business in Russia” the successful results of FSD work in 2006-2009 on the Environment and Public Health in Nevinnomyssk and Other Regions  of EuroChem Company Presence Program were presented.
