The ROLL Program Is Completed

On January 29, 2007, the 10-year USAID funded ROLL Program was closed at a meeting attended by nearly 80 people who included  ROLL participants, members of its Coordinating Council, grantees, USAID representatives, partners from the RF Ministry of Natural Resources, RF Ministry of Economic Development and the Federation Council, and journalists.

Under the ROLL Program,  which was managed from 1996 to 2006 by the Institute for Sustainable Communities (USA) and the Fund for Sustainable Development (Russia), over 400 concrete social and environmental projects were carried out for an amount of over $10 million in 85 regions of the Russian Federation. This Program is well known not only for its environmental, but also for its significant economic and social effect. The Ministry of Natural Resources of Sverdlovskaya Oblast where 23 ROLL projects were implemented has noted its important contribution to the sustainable development of the region.

The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Sverdlovsk oblast expresses its sincere
gratitude to You with the successful completion of the ROLL program!
The technical assistance of the US Agency for international Development allowed to
implement 23 projects in legal and legislative initiatives in the spheres of the
environment protection, the natural resources rational use management, the energy
saving, the environmental education, the environmental risk assessment and the
environmental management on the territory of the Sverdlovsk oblast that made a
significant contribution into the sustainable development of our region.
We express our sincere gratitude for the support and assistance in the projects,
implemented with the framework of the ROLL program, and we hope for the further
fruitful cooperation.
