The Fund for Sustainable Development Together with Its Partners EuroChem Company and ALCOA Foundation Support the Publication of an Environmental Encyclopedia

The first volume of the environmental encyclopedia was presented on September 19 at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall on the day of the opening of an exhibition held as part of the IV All Russia Forum “Health of the Nation”.
Along with the environmental encyclopedia, the guests of the Forum became acquainted with FSD programs and projects that address environmental concerns and, in particular, those that are being implemented with financial support from ALCOA Foundation (Sustainable Development and Conservation in Russia) and EuroChem Company and USAID (Environment and Public Health in Nevinnomyssk and Other Regions of EuroChem Company Presence).

The encyclopedia was presented by its senior editorB.I.Danilov-Danilyan, chairman of FSD Board of Directors, director of the Institute of Water Problems at the Russian Academy of Sciences and corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the author and compiler of the encyclopedia Prof. K.Losev (Geography). The editorial board also includes prominent Russian scholars, members of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Y.Laverov (Chairman), Yu. Arsky, V.Bolshakov, M.Zalikhanov and K.Kondratyev.

The Environmental Encyclopedia in 6 volumes is not only the first such multivolume publication in Russia, but in the entire world practice as well. It encompasses the whole specter of environmental topics and will serve as a useful source of knowledge for ecologists and environmentalist, educators and students in the field, the staff of public environmental organizations and the general public interested in ecology, conservation and environmental safety.
