The 23rd FSD Regional Center Seminar in Yekaterinburg

The 23rd FSD Regional Center Seminar, held on October 31 near Yekaterinburg (Verkhnyaya Sysert) and joined by 16 attendees, RC directors and FSD staff, was devoted to summarizing the results of activities carried out in 2008 and discussing the 2009 Work Plan.

RC directors and FSD program managers made presentations on the results, lessons learned, and prospects of projects that are now being implemented under the Community Development Support Program.

The participants in the discussion stressed that the priority of the Community Development Support Program in 2008 will be the same as in 2009: joint work of FSD and the RCs and, in particular, on such components as project monitoring and evaluation and collection and analysis of materials for preparing the final publication of the Program, “Codes of Best Practices”. Besides, in 2009, the RCs will be involved in a new project “Improving Communities Right Now” which will be fulfilled by FSD in Nizhny Novgorod and Sverdlovskaya Oblasts with financial support from CITI.

During the financial part of the seminar, such questions as the results of financial audits of FSD and the RCs and monitoring the financial components of CDSP projects were discussed.
