Amur Initiative Phase 2 delivers first practical results for rural citizens

The program “Replicating results of the targeted program for improving drinking water quality in the settlements along Amur river in Khabarovskiy Krai” which started earlier this year by the  Fund for Sustainable Development under financial support of USAID delivered first results to rural citizens. Thanks to seven projects over 25 000 people who had to drink heavily polluted water from Amur river got access to clean and safe drinking water sources. In the project sites the rate of alimentary diseases was reduced by 20%. In four settlements for the first time in their history water quality improved and now is in compliance with the State Sanitary Standards (SanPiN). The projects raised serious co-funding from the regional government and local sources. Every dollar provided by USAID helped to raise another dollar from local sources.

After general reconstruction of Osinovorechenskiy well
(Khabarovskiy raion) the water quality for 2 000 rural citizens
fully complies with Russian National Sanitary Standards (SanPiN)
