At the end of October 2009, the general director of Alcoa Metallug Rus Ivan Osmachko presented a street cleansing machine to the Mayor of Belaya Kalitva Valery Fedorchenko

This donation to the city was made in the framework of the project “Belaya Kalitva – a Green City” carried out under the ALCOA Sustainability and Conservation Program for Russia “We Are in Charge of the Future” that included buying a new ZIL vehicle with a 600-liter water tank costing 1.2 million rubles.

The ALCOA Sustainability and Conservation Program for Russia “We Are in Charge of the Future” is being implemented from 2006 on two areas of the Company’s presence – Belaya Kalitva (Rostov Oblast) and Samara – in partnership with the Fund for Sustainable Development (Moscow). The Program includes environmental education for schoolchildren, advanced training for teachers and, public participation in environmental decision-making and mobilizing local community resources – schools and non-profit organizations.
