A seminar “Water use standardization as a condition of sustainable water resources management. Phyto oily waste cleaning technologies” was successfully conducted in the city of Samara for representatives of the local business community

On April 16, 2012, a seminar “Water use standardization as a condition of sustainable water resources management. Phyto oily waste cleaning technologies” was successfully conducted in the city of Samara for representatives of the local business community.

This event was organized under the program “Responsible Water Resources Management for Sustainable Development” implemented by the Fund for Sustainable Development, Moscow, and the Alcoa Foundation.

The seminar was moderated by Alina Kopnina, PhD (Chemistry), assistant professor at the Chemical Technology and Industrial Ecology Department of Samara State Technical University.

The seminar was devoted to the issue of rate fixing in water management as an administrative measure of state governance of the process of environmental protection.

The participants had many questions regarding phyto treatment of sewage and oily waste. Other subjects for discussion included the introduction of water-saving technologies in small businesses and the constraints and prospects of utilizing these technologies. Treating oily and polluted storm sewage on industrial sites is a critical issue that needs to be addressed to ensure environmental preservation and an observance of sanitary standards.

The seminar was attended by a total of 27 specialists from 25 organizations.
