Responsible Water Resources Management for Sustainable Development Program (AlCOA Foundation – FSD)

Professor Pryazhinskaya from the Institute of Water Problems at the Russian Academy of Sciences presented the results of the Responsible Water Resources Management for Sustainable Development Program (supported by the AlCOA Foundation) at the 14th Great Rivers International Science and Industry Forum that was held on May 15-18, 2012, at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair.

At  Workshop # 1 “Responsible Water Resources Use and Protection in the Basins of Great Rivers”, Professor Pryazhinskaya spoke about issues concerning water use in transborder rivers and presented the work of Program participants: discs with analytical reviews and guidelines on responsible water resources management on a federal level in the Russian Federation.

Nearly 500 companies, organizations, research and academic institutes, ministries and agencies from 28 regions of the country and 17 countries took part in the forum. The Great Rivers 2012 Forum was devoted to the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro and was organized in the framework of the  International Decade of Action “Water for Life” announced by the United Nations.
